NO PARTEY FOR EVERTON GAME

Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey will reportedly not be fit for the visit of Merseyside outfit Everton on the final day of the Premier League this season. This is according to the report from Football London which stated that Partey won’t be risked for the Everton  game. It was stated that the Ghanaian star won’t be risked for the Everton game on Sunday as he continues to recover from the thigh injury that has plagued him since the start of last month. It had been hoped that Partey will play some part before the season ends with an home game against Merseyside giants Everton, but that would not be possible as reported by the aforementioned media outlet.


Partey has been missing in action since he sustained a thigh problem during the 3-0 loss at the hands of Crystal Palace in their London Derby clash played in April. He has been sorely missed by the Gunners in central midfield. The Gunners have lost three of the seven Premier League games without him. Continue Reading

EVERTON ON THE VERGE OF SIGNING JACK PATTERSON

Everton are reportedly on the verge of completing the signing of 16-year-old midfielder Jack Patterson from Northern Ireland club Crusaders. According to the Liverpool Echo, Everton are closing in on the capture of 16-year-old Northern Irish prospect Jack Patterson from Crusaders FC in the upcoming summer transfer window.

A product of the Crusaders’ youth academy, Patterson has been making quite the strides in his homeland despite his young age. The teenage midfield prodigy made his senior debut for the club at the age of 15 and has since made four first-team appearances so far. He has also represented the Northern Ireland national team at youth levels.

EVERTON LOSE SIX AWAY LEAGUE GAMES

Merseyside outfit Everton are now on a run of six successive league defeats on the road after Burnley came from behind to beat them 3-2 at home. Hosts Burnley scored twice in the second half to overturn a one-goal deficit against Everton at the half-time interval.


Everton came into the Burnley game on the back of a poor run of form away from home. They had lost six successive away games in all competitions including five successive away games in the league before they took on the Clarets at Turf Moor. The Merseyside giants were on their way to victory before two defensive lapses ensured that Burnley scored two goals in the second half to turn the game on its head. GODFREY RETURNS IN WOLVES DEFEAT

Everton defender Ben Godfrey made his return from injury during the Premier League clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers at the weekend, but he could not save his team from another defeat that could prove costly in the fight for survival at the wrong end of the league standings.


Godfrey had missed some weeks of football action due to a thigh injury and he returned to the Everton starting XI for the home game against Wolves in the league on Sunday. He could not prevent his team from suffering a 1-0 defeat to the visitors courtesy the first half header from skipper Conor Coady. CALVERT-LEWIN SET FOR EVERTON RETURN

Merseyside giants Everton are set to welcome star striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin back into their squad ahead of thePremier League trip to the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to take on North London giants Spurs.The England international has missed the last two Everton games in all competitions due to a hip injury, but manager Frank Lampard is confident that he would make his squad for the Tottenham Hotspur game. In his pre-match press conference ahead of theTottenham Hotspur game, the new Everton manager told reporters that he expects Calvert-Lewin to be ready for the Premier League encounter.


The last Everton appearance for Calvert-Lewin came during the Premier League defeat at Southampton last month. The Englishman played 90 minutes as Southampton beat Everton 2-0 at home. He missed the Manchester City game at home in the league which ended in a 1-0 defeat thanks to the second half strike from Phil Foden. CITY TO BOUNCE BACK AGAINST EVERTON?

Pep Guardiola and his Manchester City players were stunned into disbelief when they lost their almost four-month unbeaten run to Tottenham Hotspur in front of their home fans at the weekend. Manchester City have suffered Premier League defeats in the past even if it is rare in comparison to other big teams such as Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea in recent times, but the manner of the defeat to the Antonio Conte-led Spurs is almost unprecedented in the Premier League era.

Tottenham Hotspur have always been a difficult team for Manchester City irrespective of the players on both sides as demonstrated at the start of the season when Guardiola and his players began the defence of their Premier League title with a 1-0 defeat at Spurs in what was their first game this season. Son Heung-Min was the recipient of the game’s winning goal in the second half. He was always the thorn in the flesh of Manchester City. The defeat to Spurs meant that Manchester City have lost that fixture in each of the last three seasons.

BENITEZ ON THE BRINK AT EVERTON

Everton manager Rafael Benitez is on the brink of being sacked just six months into the job after his team lost 2-1 at Norwich City who were at the bottom of the Premier League table before the faced off in the league. The ex-Liverpool, Newcastle United and Chelsea manager has overseen a poor run of form in the league at Everton over the last three months. Under his watch, the Toffees have won once in the last 13 league matches with the only win coming against Arsenal at the start of last month. On that occasion, Everton winger Demarai Gray scored a dramatic late winner as the hosts came from a goal down to beat Arsenal 2-1 at home. Norwegian international Martin Odegaard was responsible for the Arsenal goal on the stroke of half-time and the advantage was cancelled out by Brazil international Richarlisonwith ten minutes to go before the winning goal from Gray gave Everton a big win.

Since the Arsenal game, Everton have drawn one and lost three of their four league games with Spanish tactician Benitez in the dugout including two successive losses against Brighton and Hove Albion & Norwich City.

EVERTON EYEING LOAN MOVE FOR BARKLEY

Merseyside club Everton are reportedly keen to sign one of their former players on loan ahead of the transfer window which resumes in a matter of hours. England international Ross Barkley is a former Everton midfielder who’s attracting interest from the Toffees. The Toffees interest in the Chelsea star was revealed by The Telegraph as it was claimed that they are keeping tabs on the midfielder.

Everton target Barkley has been sparingly used at Chelsea this season especially in the Premier League. He has been restricted to just one Premier League start this season and that was the home game with Burnley at the end of October. Barkley started the Burnley game which ended in a 1-1 draw after Czech substituteMatejVydracame off the bench to rescue a point for Burnley. Striker Vydra scored from close range to rescue a share of the spoils for the Clarets after Chelsea took a first half lead through German player Kai Havertz.

EVERTON POOR FORM CONTINUES AGAINST LIVERPOOL

Everton are on a poor run in the Premier League and it is showing no signs of coming to an end especially after their 4-1 defeat to Liverpool when the two teams met in a Merseyside Derby clash on the Premier League scene. Everton came into the game with a run of one draw and four losses in their last five league outings and the run was stretched to one point and five defeats in the last six league games with the defeat to Liverpool. As a matter of fact, Everton are now winless in their last seven league games since the 2-0 home win over Norwich City in September thanks to the goals from Andros Townsend (penalty) and Abdoulaye Doucoure.

Ahead of their latest Merseyside Derby duel with Liverpool, Everton had a three-game unbeaten run but they could not extend it to four games as they were well beaten with two goals in each half from their visitors.

AS Monaco midfielder Youssouf Fofana has emerged as atarget for Merseyside giants Everton ahead of the winter transfer window. According to the report from the Liverpool Echo, the midfield department is an area of concern for the Toffees especially in the absence of Doucoure and Everton are ready to bolster their squad in that area.

22-year-old Fofana is valued at around £13m and the transfer fee is not expected to be a problem for Everton. They have already freed up some funds with the summer exits of big earners like James Rodriguez and Bernard.
