MONACO STAR ON EVERTON RADAR – REPORT

AS Monaco midfielder Youssouf Fofana has emerged as atarget for Merseyside giants Everton ahead of the winter transfer window. According to the report from the Liverpool Echo, the midfield department is an area of concern for the Toffees especially in the absence of Doucoure and Everton are ready to bolster their squad in that area.

22-year-old Fofana is valued at around £13m and the transfer fee is not expected to be a problem for Everton. They have already freed up some funds with the summer exits of big earners like James Rodriguez and Bernard.

Monaco star Fofana is adept at sweeping up danger in front of his defence in addition to the fact that he’s quick and mobile. Fofana averaged 8.15 duels per 90 last season with the success rate of over 67%. In comparison, Everton midfielder Doucoure had an average of 6.1 duels per 90 with the success rate of over 68%.

German international Jamal Musiala is also a target for Everton after he enjoyed a breakthrough season at Bayern Munich in the German top flight. He has already been given his international bow as a teenager. Musiala is a utility player as he can play in different positions in midfield and in attack.

Musiala became a regular in the Bayern Munich first team last season and he went on to pen a new long-term deal at the club.

In comparison to last season, Musiala has seen reduced time at Bayern Munich since the start of the Julian Nagelsmann era at the club. Hansi Flick gave Musiala a lot of opportunities last season before he stepped down from his role at the Allianz Arena to take up the German national team job. Everton could take advantage of the reduced playing time given to Musiala by eyeing a loan deal for him. Bayern Munich consider him untouchable in terms of a potential sale in the transfer window.
