Merseyside club Everton are reportedly keen to sign one of their former players on loan ahead of the transfer window which resumes in a matter of hours. England international Ross Barkley is a former Everton midfielder who’s attracting interest from the Toffees. The Toffees interest in the Chelsea star was revealed by The Telegraph as it was claimed that they are keeping tabs on the midfielder.

Everton target Barkley has been sparingly used at Chelsea this season especially in the Premier League. He has been restricted to just one Premier League start this season and that was the home game with Burnley at the end of October. Barkley started the Burnley game which ended in a 1-1 draw after Czech substituteMatejVydracame off the bench to rescue a point for Burnley. Striker Vydra scored from close range to rescue a share of the spoils for the Clarets after Chelsea took a first half lead through German player Kai Havertz.

Everton are enduring a lot of injuries to several first team players and they are said to be considering the idea of a reunion for Barkley.

Chelsea signed Barkley from fellow Premier League team Everton three years ago. He was signed by the Blues in a £15m deal during the 2018 winter transfer window.

A possible loan move for Barkleyis dependent on the response of manager Thomas Tuchel. The Chelsea boss is expected to have the final say on whether Barkley can leave the club for Everton on loan next month.

Barkley is down on the list of the attacking midfield pecking order at Chelsea. The likes of Callum Hudson-Odoi, Mason Mount, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Mateo Kovacic are all ahead of Barkley in the attacking midfielder pecking order.

Aston Villa gave Barkley a loan deal before he returned to Chelsea. Villa decided against a permanent deal for the player.
